The general concept of the game is to be handed cards adding up to 21. Every competitor is assigned 2 cards. When a player is given a nine or lower value card and an Ace they have been handed a soft hand. When the player receives no Ace cards it is referred to as a hard hand. As soon as the cards have been given to every player at the blackjack table, which includes the dealer, every gambler is provided the chance to make one of 6 decisions:
Taking another card (Hit): When a blackjack player says hit me the dealer will give them another card, if the addition of that card makes the value of the hand to exceed 21 the player will have lost and be excluded from the game, if the card pushes the value of the hand to twenty one the player will be the winner and if the total has not yet achieved 21 they are still in the game.
Keeping the hand you have been dealt: If a player is satisfied with the hand they’ll stay. As soon as this has happened the dealer will show his/her cards and the black jack player who has accumulated twenty-one or the closet to 21 will come away with a win.
Doubling Down: A gambler may ask to double down which doubles the bet they have laid. As soon as you have taken this action you can only receive one additional card. The specifics of doubling down are often out lined by the blackjack table or betting house game rules so before gambling be sure you’re comfortable with the house rules. If you are playing at an on-line casino this is normally quite easy.
